Job description

The Quality Assurance Technician performs receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, subassemblies, and completed unmanned aircraft systems. This position verifies that products meet approved drawings, specifications, work instructions, workmanship standards, customer requirements, and Skyeton's Quality Management System (QMS).

This is a hands-on manufacturing-floor role supporting composite fabrication, machining, cable and harness assembly, electronics, mechanical assembly, integration, and test activities. The Quality Assurance Technician uses calibrated inspection and test equipment, maintains accurate traceability and inspection records, identifies nonconforming conditions, and works closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality leadership to protect product safety, reliability, and compliance.

What you’ll do
  • Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, final, and source inspections in accordance with approved inspection plans, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and acceptance criteria
  • Inspect mechanical, machined, composite, electrical, electronic, cable-harness, avionics, and assembled products for dimensional accuracy, configuration, workmanship, identification, and completeness
  • Use calibrated inspection and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, torque verification tools, multimeters, continuity testers, scales, and other authorized devices
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), schematics, bills of material, specifications, travelers, inspection plans, and technical procedures
  • Verify material certifications, certificates of conformance, test reports, purchase-order requirements, lot and batch information, shelf life, serial numbers, and other traceability records
  • Document inspection results clearly and accurately in paper and electronic systems; ensure records are complete, legible, attributable, and retained as required
  • Identify, segregate, label, and document nonconforming material or product; initiate nonconformance reports and support disposition, reinspection, and closure activities
  • Stop or hold work when a product, process, tool, document, or condition does not meet approved requirements, and promptly notify the appropriate Quality or Production leader
  • Support AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) activities, including characteristic accountability, ballooned drawings, inspection evidence, and review of supporting documentation
  • Verify completion of production travelers, inspection checkpoints, required signatures, configuration status, and material traceability before product acceptance
  • Perform workmanship inspections using applicable standards, visual aids, samples, and approved acceptance criteria
  • Monitor compliance with ESD, FOD-prevention, tool-control, contamination-control, material-handling, preservation, and product-protection requirements
  • Confirm that inspection and production equipment is within calibration and suitable for use; remove or report damaged, expired, or out-of-calibration equipment
  • Support calibration recall, gauge-control, inventory, and recordkeeping activities
  • Assist with root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, material review activities, defect trending, and continuous-improvement projects
  • Participate in internal audits, customer or registrar audits, product reviews, and preparation of objective evidence
  • Communicate quality concerns respectfully and clearly while partnering with Production and Engineering to resolve issues without compromising requirements
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized inspection area and follow all company safety, security, quality, and export-control procedures
  • Perform additional inspection, quality-system, and manufacturing-support duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of quality inspection, quality assurance, manufacturing, assembly, machining, electronics, composites, or other directly relevant technical experience
  • Experience performing visual and dimensional inspections in a manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, bills of material, and inspection requirements
  • Working knowledge of basic measurement and inspection techniques and the proper use of calipers, micrometers, gauges, multimeters, or similar equipment
  • Ability to accurately document results, maintain traceability, and recognize discrepancies or nonconforming conditions
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic QMS, ERP, document-control, and inspection-record systems
