OVERVIEW:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to quality standards and procedures within the food manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance activities, supervising quality control technicians, and implementing quality assurance programs to maintain product quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and lead the quality control team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management, to ensure accurate and timely execution of quality assurance activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify conformance to quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics departments to identify and address quality issues, non-conformities, and root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality control tests, inspection results, and non-conformities, and prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics, including defect rates, customer complaints, and quality incidents, and identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, quality improvement projects, and process optimization efforts to enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct training and provide guidance to production and quality control staff on quality standards, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistent adherence to quality requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory updates, and technological advancements in quality assurance and food safety, and recommend and implement improvements to quality systems and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in quality assurance or quality control roles, with at least [insert number] years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance principles, practices, and techniques, including GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA).
  • Experience with quality control testing methods, instrumentation, and laboratory procedures, including sensory evaluation, chemical analysis, and microbiological testing.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite and quality management software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and operational demands.
  • Certification in quality management or related fields (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Technician) is a plus.
