Overview:
Reports to the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. The QA Supervisor is responsible for ensuring products are manufactured to engineering, customer, and regulatory bodies’ specifications through rigorous testing and sampling. QA supervisor is supported by a team of quality associates and a lab technician. QA Supervisor works closely with engineering, purchasing, and operations.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Staffs, trains, and oversees a team of quality associates and a lab technician, ensuring their work is in accordance with efficiency requirements, procedures, and testing methods.
- Track and share key quality metrics such as RTFT, product non-conformities, COPQ, and claim rate.
- Creates and implements quality control plans tailored to various product families, aligning with industry standards and specific customer requirements.
- Prepares and regularly reviews quality system documentations to assure they are accurate and reflect current practices.
- Oversee laboratory studies and issues technical reports on findings. Makes conclusions and recommendations to Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Operations.
- Implement tests and controls to verify product conformity. This includes raw material inspections, in-process inspections, and finished goods testing.
- Initiates and drives continuous improvement projects/activities when defects are found or if measurements deviate from standards. Applies such tools as Six Sigma and LEAN to drive corrective actions.
- Leads product reliability qualifications for Change Control.
- Supports supplier quality development and product approval process by collaboration with purchasing and engineering, testing new products, and auditing suppliers.
- Supports the plant in establishing statistical process controls (SPC) on critical quality characteristics.
- Participates in internal and third-party audits (ISO), interacts with customers, certification bodies (UL), regulatory agencies, and third-party testing labs.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new technologies, equipment, and systems to elevate the performance of quality department.
- Ensures department and team members operate in a safe manner.
Qualifications:
Education:
- BS degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or other applied industrial/science degree.
- Six Sigma Certification a plus.
Experience:
- Three years of quality or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Solid planning, execution, and administrative skills.
- Supervisory skills.
- Ability to work with cross functional teams.
- Knowledge of quality philosophies, principles, systems, methodologies, control tools, and standards.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Experience handling product certifications to national and international standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Minitab).
- SAP experience is a plus.
- ISO 9001 experience is a plus.
