Job description

Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor Job Description The Quality Assurance Supervisor leads the quality assurance team within a food manufacturing facility and ensures that all products meet established food safety and quality standards. This role oversees quality systems, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and provides hands‑on leadership in managing quality incidents, sanitation, and compliance activities. The supervisor collaborates closely with production and other departments to maintain robust quality processes, support regulatory and customer requirements, and foster a culture of food safety and quality throughout the plant.


Responsibilities


  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and mentoring to quality assurance technicians and take responsibility for their performance in relation to quality standards.

  • Supervise all quality functions in the facility, ensuring systems are in place and consistently followed to meet the companys quality operating standards.

  • Respond promptly to reports of food safety and food quality issues and coordinate appropriate actions.

  • Provide point leadership on quality incidents, directing and controlling all related activities until issues are fully resolved and closed.

  • Lead quality improvement efforts across the facility, working with staff at all levels to identify opportunities and implement effective solutions.

  • Guide and oversee all work to control products during quality incidents and prevent further issues by implementing corrective and preventive actions.

  • Execute internal and external activities to ensure all adversely affected products are promptly identified and placed on hold as needed.

  • Share responsibility with the production manager to ensure that plant sanitation requirements are consistently met and documented.

  • Train staff on Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) procedures, policies, and programs to ensure understanding and compliance.

  • Conduct root cause analyses for quality and food safety issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Manage the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) schedule and ensure testing and documentation are completed on time.

  • Manage allergen verification and validation activities to ensure proper control of allergenic ingredients and prevent cross‑contact.

  • Manage sanitation verification and validation processes to confirm cleaning effectiveness and compliance with sanitation standards.

  • Oversee quality assurance testing, documentation, and record review to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

  • Maintain document control for quality and food safety records, ensuring they are organized, current, and accessible for internal and external review.


Essential Skills


  • 34 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control within a food manufacturing environment.

  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in food manufacturing.

  • Hands‑on experience with HACCP programs and principles in a food production setting.

  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.

  • Experience in food safety systems, including verification, validation, and record review.

  • Background in food science, chemistry, or a related technical discipline applicable to food manufacturing.

  • Proficiency in quality assurance testing methods and laboratory practices relevant to food products.

  • Experience with document control and maintaining accurate, compliant quality and food safety records.

  • Minimum of an associate degree; a bachelors degree is preferred.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Bilingual ability in Spanish is preferred and supports communication with a diverse workforce.

  • Experience managing Environmental Monitoring Programs (EMP) in a food manufacturing facility.

  • Experience managing allergen verification and validation activities.

  • Experience managing sanitation verification and validation processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

Work Environment This role is based in a food manufacturing facility and follows a primary schedule of Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position requires flexibility, as there may be occasions when the supervisor works alternative shifts such as 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The work environment involves regular presence on the production floor, collaboration with production and sanitation teams, and use of standard office and computer equipment for documentation and reporting. The setting emphasizes adherence to food safety, sanitation, and quality procedures at all times.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
