Job summary

AVFUEL/AVFLIGHT in Ann Arbor, MI seeks a hands-on QA/Technician to diagnose and service aviation refueling equipment. You will read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, perform flow tests, and support field operations at FBOs and terminals.

Travel is required; driving and occasional flying are part of the role. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, provides excellent customer service, and can write clear reports.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with minimum three years of aircraft refueler experience or equivalent.
  • Hands-on training provided; strong mechanical aptitude expected.

Responsibilities

  • Answering and troubleshooting Quality Assurance and Technical service calls.
  • Reading electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose refueler trucks.
  • Flow test refueler trucks.
  • Travel to FBO locations, Terminals, Suppliers (scheduled and emergency).
  • Must be able to drive and fly without restrictions.
  • Work outdoors when needed for extended periods.

Responsibilities
  • Answering and troubleshooting Quality Assurance and Technical service calls
  • Reading electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose refueler trucks

Qualifications
  • 12V wiring knowledge needed
  • Aptitude to learn how to interpret electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
  • Be able to physically climb ladders and vessels of various shapes and sizes
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Comfortable in a shop or office environment
  • Self-starter, highly motivated
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other staff members
  • Have exceptional customer service and communication skills both by phone and in person
  • High mechanical aptitude in Automotive and Heavy Truck repair with the ability to train and teach
  • Ability to write reports and proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and complete assignments within deadlines
  • Experience in operations & maintenance of aviation refueling equipment and aviation fuel handling practices would be a plus
Education and Experience
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred, not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years of aircraft refueler or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position
  • Heavy truck mechanics, auto mechanics, ground support mechanics, aviation line service personnel and managers are encouraged to apply, as this is a “Hands On” position that includes on the job training
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
