Job description

Overview

The QA Testing Technician is responsible for auditing the manufacturing process, collecting evidence and data on the performance of the process and quality of materials. They report findings and assist in resolving observed issues, working on quality projects under the guidance of the Quality Manager. This role also serves as a feeder to plant supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Understand testing requirements for raw materials, finished goods, and returns.
  • Understand manufacturing processes and specifications.
  • Assist in calibration programs.
  • Communicate findings effectively.
  • Take samples and maintain logs for wastewater treatment.
  • Follow standard operating procedures during testing in the laboratory.
  • Collect and prepare quarterly samples for external testing.
  • Perform wastewater testing prior to discharge.
  • Compile weekly quality reports and update the Quality Management System with sample results.
  • Provide training to new technicians, engineers, maintenance staff, and operators.
  • Participate in environmental, health, and safety training, especially regarding hazardous materials and waste handling.
  • Handle scrap materials and disposable protective clothing containing lead, disposing of them properly as hazardous waste.
  • Adhere to health and safety practices relevant to the work area.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications

The following are the minimum requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good skills in math, reading, and writing.
  • Proficient in computer use.
  • Ability to pass a blood lead test.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Capability to wear a respirator as required.
  • Good work history, attendance, and communication skills.
  • Availability for overtime.
  • Interest and ability to transition into a supervisory role.
Physical Demands

Must be able to see, hear, speak, sit, stand, bend, crawl, squat, kneel, climb, and lift 40 pounds. Capable of working in confined spaces, below ground, and on elevated platforms. Able to wear PPE and work extended shifts, including weekends.

Work Environment

Work may be indoors or outdoors in various climate conditions, with exposure to lead, fumes, chemicals, equipment, and vehicles.
