Job summary

TerraPower is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager (USO) to lead the QA team for the Wyoming site, ensuring training, qualification, and certification requirements are met and readiness supports plant activities.

You will oversee work product, ensure regulatory compliance with NRC/INPO standards, and coordinate cross‑discipline reviews while pursuing innovative methods for the QA program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, quality assurance, or a related technical field is required.
  • 8+ years of commercial nuclear power plant QA experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or mentoring experience or equivalent people leadership experience.

Quality Assurance Manager (USO)
  • Manages department personnel to ensure all training, qualification, and certification requirements are met, provide direction in their work assignments, and ensure that the department maintains readiness to support plant activities.
  • Provides managerial oversight of work product from department personnel, ensuring all quality-related activities and records satisfy program and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates with other departments for cross-discipline procedure reviews and database implementation.
  • Uses industry practices to develop high-quality procedures which minimize the risk of NQA events.
  • Engages with industry peers, third-party vendors, NEI, and other organizations to find innovative methods & technologies for implementing the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Ensures USO quality implementing procedures comply with program and company standards, NRC regulations, INPO accreditation criteria, and other codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides regular training and mentoring to company personnel on the processes and standards associated with the license holder's NQA processes and procedures.
  • Incorporates information gained from INPO Significant Operating Experience Reports, NRC Circulars, Bulletins, and Information Notices, plant design changes, plant procedure changes and revisions, and new regulations, and training effectiveness reports into the NQA procedures, as applicable
  • Ensure the collection and maintenance of auditable quality documents and records is performed.
  • Schedules and ensures internal and supplier audits are completed to support the QA program.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance to evaluate and improve the QA program and QA activities of the KPS.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, quality assurance, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 8+ years of commercial nuclear power plant QA experience
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory or mentoring experience or equivalent people leadership experience is required
  • Demonstrated competency managing personnel
  • High level of knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and terminology
  • Experience with interpreting relevant nuclear information and standards in strict procedural and regulatory compliance
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with smart procedures or other software-based procedure tools.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and aspiration for NQA excellence
  • Self-starter who can develop innovative solutions with minimal supervision
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, able to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork
  • Understands how individual actions and decisions can positively and negatively affect the ability of the total organization to meet its requirements to regulatory agencies and the public
  • Adapts well to emergent changes due to changes in plant design, plant procedures, schedule changes, or other challenges associated with the design, construction, and commissioning of a new nuclear power plant.

This position is subject to qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1. Candidates must meet the minimum education and experience criteria applicable to the role, including relevant nuclear industry experience where required. Verification of data will be part of the hiring process.

  • Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Wyoming State.
