Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, WA, is seeking a Systems and Requirements Management Engineer to join the System Engineering team. You will drive integrated design across plant systems and coordinate with design partners to ensure consistent engineering practices.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in engineering and 5+ years in system design, with experience in requirements management, verification/validation, and adherence to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in system and integrated product design.
  • Experience in configuration management and process improvement (LEAN, six sigma, etc.).
  • Experience in Requirements Management and Systems Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in verifications and validations processes.
  • Experience with ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and ability to coordinate across teams.

Systems and Requirements Management Engineer

TerraPower, LLC. is seeking a highly capable and motivated Systems and Requirements Management Engineer. The SE & RM Engineer reports directly to the Manager of System Engineering and Requirements Management. This position focuses on the integrated design of plant systems, structures, and integrated analysis of the facility. In this role, you will act as a Systems and Requirements Management Engineer for TerraPower’s advanced nuclear reactor projects or other highly technical projects. The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate with engineers working on systems, components, or engineering analysis areas such as safety analysis or heat transport. The Systems and Requirements Management Engineer will work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists focused on developing systems of next generation reactors and other highly technical projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain programmatic systems engineering documents, including procedures, plans, guides, and templates.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain requirements management processes, procedures, and tools.
  • Collaborate with design teams and external vendors to develop, manage, and verify plant, system, and component requirements.
  • Facilitate and mature a systems engineering approach across design stages and partner organizations.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements to requirements and systems engineering processes and toolsets.
  • Support development and execution of requirements verification and validation activities and reports.
  • Assess requirement product quality, ensure adherence to standards, and provide corrective feedback.
  • Coordinate process integration and communication with external design partners to ensure consistent engineering practices.
  • Support training development and delivery for requirements and systems engineering processes and tools.
  • Assist in implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving integrated engineering processes, including design control and configuration management.
  • Comply with Quality Assurance program requirements.
  • Responsible for communications interface and coordination with external design partners to ensure consistent and integrated engineering processes for the project
  • Act as internal advocate for design partner process integration needs
  • Assist in development, implementation, and continual improvement of an integrated set of project engineering processes and guidance across the spectrum of design activities (including systems, components, testing, construction, operations, and others).
  • Assist to refine and standardize an integrated design process model leveraging a systems engineering approach to design, in coordination with various design teams and levels of design hierarchy.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of procedures, forms, work guides, tools, and training related to design control, configuration management, and other areas of coordination with the design partners.
  • Support the monitoring and appraisal of design organizations, partners, contractors, and subcontractors’ performance to ensure that established standards for design execution and project processes are effectively and correctly implemented.
  • Identify, advocate, and resolve deficiencies in process or tool implementation, including issues in base process as well as issues in user implementation.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field, and Minimum 5+ years’ experience in system and integrated product design.
  • Experience in the application of configuration management principles through engineering processes and tools.
  • Process improvement experience, and ability to identify needed changes to processes and activities to implement continuous improvement solutions (e.g., six sigma, value engineering, LEAN, TQM, etc.).
  • Experience in Requirements Management and processes is highly desired
  • Experience in Systems Engineering discipline and processes is highly desired.
  • Experience in implementing Verification and Validation Processes within projects is highly desired
  • Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.
  • Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
  • Proven ability to communicate and work across internal and external organizational boundaries to achieve design organization success, particularly on a large, complex construction project.
  • Experience and knowledge in project management is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to apply expertise on multiple complex work assignments.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate openly, and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a design team’s effort with minimal direction.

This position is subject to qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1. Candidates must meet the minimum education and experience criteria applicable to the role, including relevant nuclear industry experience where required. Verification of data will be part of the hiring process.

Salary Range: $131,828 - $171,206

Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
