Job summary

TekPro seeks a Quality Manager for its Wheeling, IL operation to lead quality engineering, inspection, and metrology teams in a high-precision aerospace and medical environment. You will own the quality management system, drive corrective actions, and coordinate audits with cross-functional partners.

The role requires strong leadership, robust knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 13485, and hands-on experience with GD&T, CMM inspection, SPC, and CAPA processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and metrology personnel with clear performance standards.
• Maintain and improve the quality management system supporting AS9100, ISO 13485, and customer requirements.
• Coordinate internal, customer, and certification audits; drive corrective actions.
• Lead customer complaints, nonconformance review, containment, root-cause investigations, and CAPA.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations on process capability, inspection planning, and defect prevention.
• Oversee first article inspection, dimensional inspection, CMM/metrology methods, calibration, and MSA.
• Support new product introduction with risk assessment, PFMEA, control plans, and APQP/PPAP where required.
• Manage supplier quality issues and ensure traceability, documentation, and change control.

Quality Manager | Aerospace & Medical Precision Machining

TekPro is a direct-hire recruiting firm specializing in manufacturing and technical talent. We’re partnering with a growing precision machining manufacturer to hire a Quality Manager for its Wheeling operation.

The company manufactures complex, close-tolerance aerospace and medical components in an AS9100 and ISO 13485 quality environment. As part of a broader precision manufacturing group, it offers technically challenging work and the opportunity to build a quality organization that supports continued growth.

This role combines team leadership, quality systems ownership, and practical problem solving on the manufacturing floor. We’re interested in established Quality Managers and strong quality supervisors or senior engineering leads ready to take on a broader role.

What You’ll Own

• Lead and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and metrology personnel, setting clear standards for performance and accountability.
• Maintain and improve the quality management system supporting AS9100, ISO 13485, and customer-specific requirements.
• Coordinate internal, customer, and certification audits; drive findings through effective corrective action.
• Lead customer complaints, nonconformance review, containment, root-cause investigations, and CAPA.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations on machining process capability, inspection planning, and defect prevention.
• Oversee first article inspection, dimensional inspection, CMM/metrology methods, calibration, and measurement system analysis.
• Support new product introduction with risk assessment, PFMEA, control plans, and APQP/PPAP where required by the customer.
• Manage supplier quality issues and ensure product traceability, documentation, and change control remain sound.
• Track scrap, rework, customer escapes, and corrective-action effectiveness to focus improvement efforts.

What We’re Looking For

• Manufacturing quality leadership experience in precision machining or a closely related environment.
• Strong working knowledge of AS9100 quality systems; ISO 13485 and medical manufacturing experience are highly valuable.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Practical familiarity with CNC machining, CMM inspection, metrology, SPC, and gauge R&R.
• Experience leading audits, customer investigations, and root-cause/corrective-action work.
• A record of developing teams and working constructively with production and engineering.
• A degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience will also be considered.
• ASQ certification or Lean Six Sigma training is a plus.
