Job description

OVERVIEW

The QA Manager (QAM) position is a skilled quality assurance specialist who provides support for the Merrick NST projects. The QAM is a Certified Lead Auditor responsible for performing independent verification activities such as monitoring, auditing, and surveillance, as required by the QA Program. The QAM ensures the effective establishment and maintenance of NST’s QA Program. See the “Duties and Responsibilities” section for additional details.

Salary range for this position is $138,700 to $179,500. Salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. There is potential for a hybrid role following the initial training period.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining the QA program for project activities, including:

  • Developing schedules for internal audits, assessments, and surveillance
  • Performing scheduled internal audits, assessments, or surveillance on projects
  • Maintaining the deficiency and corrective action tracking system
  • Supporting project management with corrective action plans/responses and verifying remedial actions

The QA Manager will also:

  • Assist with QA/QC matters on Work Scope and Project Plans
  • Propose technical solutions and alternatives on QA/QC issues
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients to ensure expectations are well-defined and met
  • Stay current on project and quality issues, supporting meetings with the client as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Certified Lead Auditor (CLA) qualifications or the ability to achieve CLA rapidly
  • At least ten (10) years of recent DOE project experience in the non-reactor nuclear industry
  • Experience developing and implementing QA/QC programs
  • Knowledge of relevant quality assurance regulations and technical documents (e.g., DOE O 414.1D, 10 CFR Part 830 Subpart A, NQA-1 standards)
  • Experience reviewing procedures and documents to verify quality requirements
  • Knowledge of construction QA activities supporting procurement and engineering, including CGD work packages and graded approach in an NQA-1 environment
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
  • Excellent communication skills and experience interacting with all project levels
  • Proven planning, prioritizing, and scheduling skills
  • Current qualification as a Lead Auditor per ASME NQA-1-2008
  • Knowledge of NQA-1 programs and DOE O 414.1D
  • Active DOE security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness to perform additional tasks as needed
