Job summary

The Neil Jones Food Company is seeking a part-time 2nd Shift Quality Assurance Lab Technician II for our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. You will grade processed and raw fruit products, perform QA analyses, and maintain accurate QA documentation.

Swing shift; part-time year-round with full-time during peak season. Responsibilities include pre-op inspections, GMP audits, CCP verifications, and timely documentation to support food safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–3 years of experience in food manufacturing quality assurance, food safety, or laboratory testing required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or coursework in food science, microbiology, or related field preferred.
• Strong understanding of GMPs, HACCP principles, CCPs, and food safety systems.
• Ability to independently perform routine QA testing, inspections, and verify compliance to specifications.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and communication across production and QA teams.

Responsibilities

• QA testing for Brix, pH, turbidity, viscosity and other routine analyses.
• Execute and own pre-op inspections with documentation and release recommendations.
• Conduct GMP audits and initiate corrective actions on the floor.
• Perform CCP and sanitation verifications; identify and respond to OOS conditions.
• Record, check and retrieve QA information; ensure timely documentation at the Vancouver, WA plant.

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are looking for a part-time2nd Shift Quality Assurance Lab Technician II to be responsible for the grading of processed and raw fruit products in accordance with standard operating procedures; recording, checking and retrieval of QA information. Performs laboratory analyses on samples and related work associated with monitoring and sampling. Ensures timely and accurate documentation is completed at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. This is a swing shift part-time job – (full time 40 hours during our fresh pack season, typically July – November, and when running production off season, part time the rest of the year).

• Promote Food Safety Culture as a top priority at all times and in all situations through consistent conversations, communications, and actions
• Independently perform QA testing and verification for Brix, pH, turbidity, viscosity, and other routine analyses
• Execute and own pre-op inspections, including documentation and release recommendation
• Conduct GMP audits and initiate immediate corrective actions on the floor
• Perform CCP and sanitation verifications; identify and respond to OOS conditions

Requirements:
