Job summary

SMS group is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer I to manage QA systems, ensure customer quality expectations, and maintain compliance across internal and external processes. The role involves collaborating with the Quality Department to enhance the quality system and work with Engineers and Project Managers to establish clear work order instructions.

The ideal candidate will have ISO 9001 knowledge, the ability to measure close tolerances, and solid experience with measurement devices.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to measure close tolerances with precision instruments.
• Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, calipers and calipers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Quality Assurance Engineer l

The successful Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing the Company’s QA systems, customer quality expectations, internal/external and regulatory quality compliance.

What you’ll do

• Work collaboratively with the Quality Department to enhance and maintain our quality system
• Work with Engineers/Project Managers to establish work order instructions
• Use various gauges such as micrometers, calipers, hardness testers, scales, surface finish gauge, and other precision equipment as required for inspections and troubleshooting
• Maintains calibration of gauges and tooling
• Ensure corrective actions (NCR and EPCAR) are properly generated and effectively closed
• Ensure document and record controls are maintained
• Identify and implement continuous process improvement activities
• Contact suppliers and providers for the best priced tooling quotes
• Confirming and documenting rework summaries, procedures, and identifying trends within rework
• Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements, and calling for repairs.
• Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations.
• Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
• Responsible for maintaining our ISO certification and performing the required training and yearly external quality inspection.
