  • Experience with ISO 9001, NQA-1, or similar quality systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, process procedures, and quality reports to identify quality problems or trends.
  • Perform quality control inspections of products and processes.
  • Develop quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists.
  • Provide quality assurance support to procurement: oversight, vendor qualification, QA requirements, and evaluation of proposals.
  • Ensure sampling plans and quality instructions are used to assess quality levels.

Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Quality Assurance Engineer Associate II in Richland, WA.

This position will supportNavarro-ATL.Navarro-ATLis located inRichland, WA andoperates, manages, andmaintainsthe 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy.Navarro-ATLmembers are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Quality Engineersare responsible forproviding quality assurance/control engineering services in support of Navarro-ATL activities at the 222-S Laboratory.The laboratory is a category 3 nuclear facility implementing NQA-1-2008 with the NQA-1A-2009 addenda.The QA Engineer serves as a subject matter expert on quality functions primarily in support of facilities engineering.Duties include design control, procurement support, identification and/or processing of non-conforming items, corrective actions, audits, limited QC inspections, and maintenance of quality program documentation.

Under limited supervision:

  • Demonstrates understanding of the application of Documented Safety Analysis (DSA) and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR) and can review and approve safety basis documents.
  • Reviews drawings, process procedures, and quality reports.Identifiesandreportsquality problems or trends.
  • Perform quality control inspections.
  • Develops quality plans, procedures, and audit checklists.
  • Provides quality assurance support to procurement efforts through process oversight, qualification of vendors, review of procurement documents, development of quality assurance requirements, and evaluation of proposals.
  • Ensuressampling plans, quality standards, and quality instructions areutilizedin assessing the quality levels of products and processes.
  • Participates inidentifyingand dispositioning non-conforming items.Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials.
  • Performs program audits and surveillance, including supplier or subcontractor audits or surveillances
  • Providequality guidance to engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Science or related field and2years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate with peers and management clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, NQA-1, or similar quality systems
  • Nuclear experience
  • Quality control inspector experience
Compensation

Grade 16: $90,150–$113,550

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
