Job summary

Wagstaff Applied Technologies seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to support QA policies and procedures in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, including inspection planning, nonconforming material, and corrective actions.

Requirements include AS 9100/NQA-1 knowledge, reading blueprints, and experience with QMS. The role interfaces with Manufacturing, Design, Purchasing, and Engineering to ensure compliance and drive product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quality, manufacturing, engineering or related field with 5+ years in QA in manufacturing
• AS 9100, ASME NQA-1 or equivalent QMS knowledge and experience
• Experience interpreting government or regulated contracts
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications
• Knowledge of inspection gauges and gauging practices
• Knowledge of typical manufacturing processes including welding, NDE, CNC milling/turning
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management software
• Formal training/experience with corrective action and problem-solving preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop project-specific inspection planning documents in compliance with contract requirements
• Develop quality systems, inspection and test plans
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Demand Management to ensure inspection requirements are clear
• Create and document inspection control plans with cross-functional teams
• Improve the quality management system to enhance product and process quality
• Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to resolve quality issues
• Maintain quality system records and activities
• Support product quality planning and documentation across the company
• Interface with suppliers and internal teams on manufacturability and quality concerns
• Determine appropriate use of existing and new quality measurement systems
• Oversee inspection processes and liaise with customers during inspections
• Protect confidential information and comply with company policies
• May require overtime to achieve business objectives
• Other duties as assigned

Description

The Quality Assurance Engineer provides technical quality assurance support in Wagstaff Applied Technologies diverse, highly regulated manufacturing environment. Primary duties consist of performing office work directly related to the management of company-wide quality policies and procedures including conception, development, and enforcement of quality policies and processes, customer contract specification interpretation, inspection and test and work order planning.

Must work with limited general supervision, using discretion and independent judgment to manage and administer company quality systems including product complaint tracking, nonconforming products, and corrective/preventive action systems.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 hourly, Depending on Experience

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and a minimum of five years related work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment, OR Associates Degree in a relevant field and five years related work experience in Quality Assurance, preferably in a manufacturing environment
• AS 9100, ASME NQA-1 or equivalent industry standardized Quality Management System (QMS) knowledge and experience
• Experience dealing withgovernment or other regulated industry contract review and interpretation
• Ability to read and interpretdrawings, blueprints, and design specifications
• Knowledge of inspection gagesand gauging practices
• Knowledge of typicalmanufacturing processes including, welding, weld inspection, NDE, conventionaland CNC milling and turning
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
• Proficient in the use of document management software
• Formal training and experience withcorrective action/problem-solving, preferred

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with Wagstaff AppliedTechnologies project managers to develop project-specific inspection planning documents in compliance with contract requirements.
• Develop project-specific and/or company-wide quality systems, inspection, and test plans.
• Work closely with ManufacturingEngineering and Demand Management to ensure inspection planningrequirements are clearly communicated.
• Work cooperatively with QualityAssurance, Design, Engineering, Purchasing, and other department personnelto develop and document inspection control plans
• Develop, recommend, andimplement enhancements to the quality management system that improveproduct and process quality
• Leadmulti-disciplinary/department problem-solving teams to resolve process,design, and product quality issues
• Ensure proper completion andmaintenance of quality system activities and records
• Lead and participate inadvanced company-wide product quality planning and documentationactivities.
• Interface with third-party suppliers and with Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Engineeringdepartment personnel during new product development to addressmanufacturability and quality concerns
• Determine and documentthe appropriate use of existing and new quality measurement systems
• Oversee project-relatedinspection processes, interface with customers on quality issues, andescort customer inspection representatives during inspections
• Maintain confidentiality andprotect proprietary information
• Abide by company policies
• In order to achieve businessobjectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
• Other duties as assigned

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, work is performed primarily in an adequately lit, manufacturing/shop floor environment. Computer work is regularly required at workstations. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The work requires frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and manipulation of the body to inspect large work pieces.

While on the shop floor, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risks of moving equipment and parts, and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. The use of job appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), clothing, and footwear is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
