Job summary

Caviness Beef Packers is seeking a Harvest Dept QA Technician to monitor regulatory and company requirements from pre-wash through gut table, ensure proper tagging, and coordinate with USDA regulators to maintain food safety compliance.

You will perform environmental sampling, calibrate thermometers and scales, document SSOPs, monitor packaging and raw materials quality, record weights and temperatures, and support HACCP verification with production teams daily.

Qualifications

  • H.S. diploma
  • HACCP certification or ability to obtain
  • Basic math and computer skills; ability to read/process charts, graphs, logs
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication at technical and general level
  • Knowledgeable with USDA inspected facilities

Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental sampling of equipment, drains, and raw and finished products.
  • Calibration of thermometers and scales on a daily basis.
  • Monitor sanitation standard operating procedures and document SSOP's in accordance with the companies program.
  • Monitoring and documenting the quality of packaging, raw materials, and finished products.
  • Monitoring foreign material detection and rejection.
  • Monitoring and recording weights of finished products.
  • Taking raw and finished product temperatures.
  • Monitor physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics of raw and finished products.
  • Generating and completing the required records and documentation on a daily basis for each product line in accordance to the customer's specifications.
  • Perform HACCP monitoring and verification for all critical control points of the company's HACCP programs.
  • Working alongside USDA and production employees.
  • Monitor and ensure food security and safety.

Job description

Overview

Monitors plant operations of compliance with regulatory and company requirements in the Harvest Dept. QA will be responsible for paperwork he/she is assigned. Tech will monitor area from pre-wash up until gut table. They will assure that tags are in place where is needed (black, red, yellow tags). At each break, they will change out SRM sterilizers and make sure that any contact area is cleaned at each break. Tech will also check equipment after each break. Acts as liaison to USDA regulators.

Qualifications
  • H.S. diploma
  • Good Work History - QA in food processing a plus
  • Be able to possess basic math and computer skills, and be able to read and analyze process charts, graphs, and logs.
  • Must possess good analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Must be HACCP certified, or be able to become HACCP certified.
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills at a technical and general level.
  • Knowledgeable with USDA inspected facilities.
