Job summary

Daily's Premium Meats LLC is seeking a Plant QA Tech to inspect and test manufacturing processes and products, ensuring quality and traceability. The role involves sanitation checks, sampling, and adherence to SQF/HACCP programs while documenting findings and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test processes and products to ensure quality.
  • Perform pre-operational sanitation inspections and document results.
  • Collect samples and verify cleanliness and sanitation procedures.
  • Audit incoming raw materials for compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor CCPs and HACCP plan requirements and report deviations.
  • Calibrate and verify lab equipment as per SOPs.
  • Ensure proper labeling, traceability, and recordkeeping.

Job description

SUMMARY: The plant QA Tech is responsible for the inspection and testing of manufacturing processes and products to insure the product quality. The QA Tech will work with a variety of inspection and test equipment and methods, processes and products, ensuring proper procedures are being followed and documented to maintain product quality and records traceability. The QA Tech will also assist to insure nonconforming product is appropriately identified and removed from the production flow until such product can be dispositioned.

  • Perform Pre-Operational Sanitation inspection each morning to verify proper cleaning and sanitation. Document inspection results including deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Collect ATP and TPC swabs of the food processing environment during Pre-Operational Sanitation inspection to verify proper cleaning and sanitation. Document and oversee deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Perform inspections and audits of incoming raw materials and ingredients to ensure compliance with internal food safety and quality standards
  • Perform Operational Sanitation inspections as mandated by the SSOP program, including employee hygiene, product handling, waste removal, condensation. Document inspection results including deficiencies and corrective actions.
  • Perform online checks of critical process and quality control points to ensure the process is in control. Report results of testing to supervisors, quality management and operations as appropriate
  • Understand your roles and responsibilities within the monitoring of the SQF, HACCP, and other prerequisite programs.
  • Become proficient in the use of lab equipment including O2 analyzers, Colorimeter, and Thermometers
  • Perform CCP monitoring and verification activities as mandated in the company’s HACCP plan.
  • Perform equipment calibration checks according to established SOPs including Thermometers, Scales, Smokehouses
  • Perform Net Weight and Declared Count checks to ensure compliance with established Net Contents Labeling
  • Performs related duties as required and instructed from management team

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, two (2) or more years related experience. Prior experience in manufacturing is preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents in the English language such as software documentation, operating and maintenance manuals, general business periodicals, technical procedures, governmental regulations and key files. Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, have the ability to prepare reports and business correspondence, effectively present information and be able to effectively respond to questions from customers, vendors and internal stakeholders.

REASONING ABILITY AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to define and solve practical problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply mathematical formulas to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move about the facility. The employee will regularly lift and/or move 25 lbs, seldom lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. The employee will be required to move about the facility, standing/walking on concrete floors for 10+ hours per day, 6 days per week. The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hand to finger coordination; handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Standing, stooping, walking, bending, and climbing are all expected physical abilities, with or without accommodations.
