Job summary

Prestage Farms in Iowa is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to ensure quality and food safety across production.

You will inspect products, plant, employees, and equipment; sample finished products; conduct sanitation inspections; maintain documentation; and support GMP and audits. The role requires a high school diploma, good English, and MS Office proficiency. On-site work with potential heavy lifting is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent knowledge.
  • Competency in reading and writing English is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn cut floor QA, Harvest QA and FSQA Auditor positions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall quality and food safety of products and materials throughout the production process.
  • Continuously inspect product, plant, employees, and equipment on the manufacturing floor to ensure standards are met.
  • Sample finished products to verify compliance with customer specifications.
  • Report discrepancies and proposed solutions to the Quality Assurance Supervisor promptly.
  • Complete quality, food safety and test forms accurately and honestly.
  • Collaborate with other departments to implement procedure changes to remedy non-compliance.
  • Conduct pre-operational and operational sanitation inspections as required.
  • Maintain KPI and score cards to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support GMP and sanitation audits with corrective actions and follow-up.

Job description

Ensure overall quality and food safety of products and materials at various stages of production process. Analyze and test product to ensure they meet established quality standards.

Continuously inspect product, plant, employees, and equipment on the manufacturing floor to ensure quality and food safety standards are met.

Sample finished products to assure compliance with customer specifications.

Conduct metal detector checks, blade inspections, etc. Report discrepancies and violations along with solutions to the Quality Assurance Supervisor immediately.

Complete required documentation (quality, food safety and test forms) honestly and accurately.

Works with other departments to implement procedure changes involving raw materials/finished goods to remedy the cause of any non-compliance as quickly as possible.

Employee is required to conduct pre-operational sanitation inspections, operational sanitation inspections.

The duties include regular completion of Quality and Food Safety, CCP and sanitation paperwork that should ultimately result in no FS deviations.

GMP and Sanitation audits are conducted as directed with documented corrective actions and follow-up as necessary.

Maintain KPI's (Key Performance Indicators) and score cards to drive continuous improvement.

Advocate and maintain a strong commitment to safety in the operating process.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma/GED or knowledge equivalent to.
