Job summary

Hickory Foods is seeking a QA/ QC professional to assist in reviewing HACCP documentation, collect daily product samples for outside lab, and monitor lab results. The role includes handling non-conforming products, fat analysis oversight, and supporting GMPs, SOPs, SSOPs, and HACCP programs on the assigned shift.

Responsibilities extend to documenting deviations, addressing customer complaints, and ensuring USDA regulations are followed, including sanitation titrations.

Qualifications

  • Experience with GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, and quality assurance.
  • Ability to align performance for success and demonstrate strong people skills.
  • Knowledge of the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Review HACCP documentation.
  • Collect and prepare daily finished product samples for outside lab, and monitor/distribute results.
  • Control of non-conforming product - suspect lab results, processing issues on the assigned production shift.
  • Oversee fat analysis testing for each batch of meat used for production of finished product.
  • Assist in GMPs, SOP, SSOP, and HACCP programs.
  • Obtain documentation of regulatory or program deviations and provide recommendations to QA Manager.
  • Assist with investigation of customer complaints.
  • Control and document all foreign object incidents and materials found in process during the assigned production shift.
  • Adhere to USDA regulations.
  • Documentation of sanitation chemical titrations.
  • Maintain good morale and positive attitude.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

Assigned under the general supervision of the QA Manager to utilize a variety of QA processes, equipment, and monitors the production of wholesome and regulatory compliant finished product. To ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation, safety, quality, and service in mind at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in reviewing HACCP documentation.
  • Responsible for collection and preparation of daily finished product samples to outside lab, including the monitoring and distribution of results.
  • Responsible for control of non-conforming product - suspect lab results, processing issues on the assigned production shift.
  • Responsible for the oversight of fat analysis testing for each batch of meat used for production of finished product.
  • Assist in GMPs, SOP, SSOP, and HACCP programs.
  • Responsible for obtaining documentation of regulatory or program deviations that occur on the assigned shift and providing recommendations to QA Manager.
  • Assists with the investigation of customer complaints.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience with GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, process improvement, plant safety programs, and quality assurance. Ability to align performance for success and demonstrate strong people skills. Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED. Experience working in QA preferably and knowledge of the food industry.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and management. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited experience exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Stand on concrete surfaces, and can be exposed to indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to noise from equipment.
  • Must have the ability to work in a refrigerated environment of 35 to 45 degrees F.
  • The job is fast paced and the employee will need to have the ability to deal with stress.
