Job summary

Spectrum IT Recruitment is seeking an Automation Test Engineer to own and evolve automation across Playwright and TypeScript in a fully remote SaaS environment. The role requires hands-on testing of front-end applications and APIs, collaborating with developers, product owners and DevOps to embed quality into the SDLC.

You will design reusable automation patterns, integrate tests into CI/CD, and drive build verification and smoke testing to ensure robust software releases.

Job description

Automation Test Engineer – Playwright / TypeScript – Fully Remote

Automation Test Engineer required by a growing SaaS business as part of its established QA and software development function.

This is a hands-on automation role with a strong focus on Playwright, covering both front-end applications and API testing.

Working closely with developers, product owners and DevOps, you’ll take responsibility for developing and maintaining the automated testing approach and helping ensure quality remains central throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Building automated API tests covering REST and GraphQL
• Developing reusable test patterns, including page object models and API test helpers
• Working with DevOps to integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines
• Building and maintaining automated build verification/smoke testing
• Investigating issues, analysing test results and communicating findings across the technical team
• Acting as an advocate for quality throughout the development process

Key experience required:

• Experience leading front-end web automation using Playwright
• Commercial experience testing SaaS applications
• API test automation experience, ideally REST and/or GraphQL
• Experience working within an Agile development environment
• Experience planning and estimating testing activity
• Familiarity with test management tools such as Zephyr or Quality Center

Experience with Selenium, Postman and Bash would also be beneficial.

This is a fully remote position and would suit an Automation Test Engineer who is comfortable taking ownership, working independently and collaborating closely with software engineering teams.
