Job Description - Quality Assurance Analyst (26005542)
Quality Assurance Analyst
The University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences IT is seeking an IT Quality Assurance Analyst to join our team. You will become part of a vibrant team, testing applications, programs, and data warehouse solutions across Health Sciences IT, writing and executing test cases, tracking defects through resolution, and maintaining clear, accurate documentation of testing scope and results.
On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, and the offices that rely on these systems. Some of your work will follow a planned testing schedule tied to system releases, while other tasks will involve validating data as it moves through our data warehouse and reporting systems, or investigating issues reported by users and determining whether the root cause is a defect, a data problem, or a training need. Under the guidance of the QA manager, partner with developers, business analysts, and functional users across campus departments to resolve defects and clarify requirements. You will attend project and sprint meetings, document changes to requirements, and flag any impact to existing test plans. You will recommend improvements to test coverage and QA processes to strengthen the overall testing lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who reads requirements carefully, documents work thoroughly and is comfortable asking clarifying questions until requirements are fully understood. Communicate testing status, risks, and blockers to the QA manager in a clear and timely manner. We are especially interested in candidates who have strong problem-solving and communication skills, along with experience working with automated testing tools, data warehouse or data testing, and defect-tracking systems.
Strong candidates will bring solid problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be able to work independently with limited supervision, function well as part of a team, and communicate effectively with both technical staff and non-technical end users across the University.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required; an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered. A minimum of two years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing is required. Candidates must be able to write and execute test cases, document results clearly and accurately, and work effectively within a defect tracking system. Candidates must also be able to write SQL queries against Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server to validate data, compare results, and confirm accuracy between application and database records.
