Job summary

Phoenix Stamping Group, LLC is hiring a Quality and Safety Engineer to support all plants in quality and safety activities. You will work under the PHX Director of Quality and Safety to drive continuous improvement and ensure ISO compliance across facilities.

Responsibilities include safety training, process audits, DR/DF actions, part validation, and PPAP documentation. The role requires strong communication and willingness to travel about 40% in a multi-site environment.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree or certificate and/or equivalent work experience involving Quality and/or Manufacturing roles and responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading and ability to use measuring tools and test equipment.
  • Understanding and interpretation of Quality tools including but not limited to SPC, Gage R & R, and Metrology tools.
  • Knowledge of lean problem solving tools and techniques such as A3, 8D, and RCCA/Corrective Action.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of what makes up a working quality management system; ability to generate SOPs and reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be willing and able to travel ~40% of time.
  • Team player who enjoys challenging situations.

Responsibilities

  • Train manufacturing personnel in weekly safety topics and safety practices.
  • Disseminate safety alerts and conduct monthly safety training.
  • Conduct safety audits across facilities and assist with JSA activities at each plant.
  • Maintain and evaluate quality process documentation to ISO standards.
  • Analyze quality metrics and reporting; manage MRB/DMR processes.
  • Conduct weekly process audits and report findings.
  • Audit production processes for part quality and process control; support internal ISO certification.
  • Prepare and maintain part/process documentation; disposition non-conforming material/product.
  • Validate initial production samples and prepare for customer submission.
  • Participate in fixture design and maintenance; manage measurement equipment calibrations.
  • Support new part launches; perform capability studies and prepare PPAP (PFMEA, control plans).
  • Lead RCCA/8D investigations; implement corrective actions; respond to customer complaints.

Job Description Title: Quality and Safety Engineer Reports to: PHX Director of Quality and Safety Job Purpose: Aid the Director of Quality and Safety for all quality and safety related activities across all plants

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
  • SAFETY
    • Train manufacturing personnel in principles of:- Weekly Safety Kata Topics;
    • Safety Alerts;
    • Monthly Safety Training;
    • Conduct periodic wall to wall safety audits in different facilities;
    • Aid in managing the JSA activities in each plant;
  • PRODUCTION SUPPORT
    • Maintain and evaluate quality process documentation to certified ISO standards;
    • Maintain and analyze quality metric/performance reporting documentation;
    • Help manage the MRB/DMR processes at each facility;
    • Conduct weekly Process Audits and report findings;
  • FLOOR AUDITS
    • Audit production processes for:- Part quality;
    • Process control;
    • Internal ISO certification
    • Perform process documentation audits to identify performance gaps;
  • PART/COMPONENT INSPECTIONS FOR VALIDATION AND VERIFICATION
    • Perform purchased component incoming inspection and ERP disposition;
    • Develop and maintain part and process documentation;
    • Disposition non-conforming material/product;
    • Validate initial production samples to established requirements and prepare for customer submission;
  • DIMENSIONAL CONTROL/MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS
    • Participate in quality control fixture design, qualification and maintenance;
    • Maintain measurement equipment, calibrations and certifications (where applicable);
  • NEW PART LAUNCH- Support new part launch meetings and update quality-related project actions
    • Perform capability study for new parts, analyze data, and recommend improvements
    • Prepare PPAP documentation, including control plans, PFMEA, and first part inspection reports.
  • ROOT CAUSE/CORRECTIVE ACTION ACTIVITIES
    • Respond to customer complaints in a timely manner;
    • Lead root cause assessment using RCCA/8D;
    • Actively participate in corrective action development programs;

Qualifications
