Job summary

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding unit seeks a quality professional to develop and implement quality plans across assembly, process, and electrical systems. You will oversee QC activities, drive corrective actions, and coordinate with manufacturing, engineering, and customers to meet complex requirements.

The role emphasizes integration of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, collaboration with suppliers, and reporting on quality deviations to support safe, high-precision naval shipbuilding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 1 year of experience
• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associate's Degree or other 2-year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control statistics, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools and analyses.
• Ensure that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
• Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly, process, mechanical, electrical and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.
