Majestic Care of Goshen is hiring a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to join our resident care team in Goshen, Indiana. This role reports to a licensed nurse and works under state and federal supervision to set up, administer, and record prescribed medications for residents.

Qualifications

• Active, valid QMA certification in the state employed.
• Active, valid CNA certification in the state employed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer prescribed medications safely and document them.
• Administer topical medications to intact skin.
• Administer PRN drugs as allowed by supervision.
• Verify physician orders against medication forms.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of all drugs.
• Keep medication cart secure when not in use.
• Care for and position resident tubing and bags as instructed.
• Make rounds and report needs to the charge nurse.
• Administer vital signs and document findings.
• Chart resident conditions timely with nurse co-signature.
• Order medications from the pharmacy per physician orders.
• Consult drug references when unsure about a medication.
• Count all drugs on Individual Control Drug Records with shift change.
• Respond promptly to call lights and alarms.

Position Overview:

The QMA is a member of the community nursing team whose responsibility is set up, administer, and record certain prescribed medications for residents in the community under supervision of a licensed nurse and as allowed by state and federal regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and administer regularly prescribed oral, eye, nasal, and ear medications to residents. Administrations must be administered safely and documented.
• Prepare and administer topical medications to intact skin.
• Administer PRN drugs, as allowed, when authorized by a license nurse.
• Check physician orders against medication forms.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of all drugs while maintaining a clean working environment.
• Keep medication cart locked while unattended.
• Care for and position all resident tubing and bags as instructed.
• Make rounds and report needs and conditions to the charge nurse as applicable.
• Administer vital signs and document properly.
• Keep medical records current by charting pertinent resident conditions timely and routine charting as scheduled, with co-signature by a licensed nurse.
• Order medications from pharmacy per physician order.
• Use appropriate drug reference if ever unsure or unclear as to drug being administered.
• Count all drugs on Individual Control Drug Records with on-coming charge CTM at shift change.
• Answer call lights, bed/chair sensors, and security care bracelet (if applicable) alarms promptly and courteously.

Qualifications:

• Certified as a Qualified Medication Aide in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
• Certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state employed; certificate must be active, valid, and in good standing.
