Job summary

Homeview Health and Rehabilitation in Indiana seeks a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) to join our caregiving team. You will administer medications, assist with daily resident care, and help maintain safety and comfort under the direction of licensed staff.

Qualifications

  • Must be certified by the State Department of Health as a CNA in good standing.
  • Must have completed a state approved training program in medication administration and have current QMA certification by the State Department of Health.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the principles of safe effective nursing practices within the State of employment.
  • A high school diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • The QMA administers medications and provides daily care, health needs, safety, and comfort for residents.
  • QMA administers and documents oral, eye, topical, suppository, ear medications per physician orders.
  • Performs treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders.
  • Maintains locked medication cart and keys per facility policy.
  • Checks catheters and provides catheter care as assigned.
  • Documents all medications and treatments in the medication record and nurses notes.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all residents and their care at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Primary Responsibilities

The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.

Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) Essential Functions

  • The QMA is responsible for providing the medication administration, daily care, health needs, safety and comfort of the residents.
  • QMA's administer and document oral medications, eye medications, topical medications, suppository medications, ear drops and all others as ordered by the physician
  • Perform treatments on minor skin conditions per physician orders
  • Maintain locked medication cart and medication keys according to facility policy
  • Check catheters frequently and providing catheter care as assigned by the nurse
  • QMA's will document all medications and treatments given in the medication record and in the nurses notes according to policy
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of all residents and their care to ensure residents rights and privacy are protected at all times
  • Performing other duties as assigned by staff nurse or designee
