Job summary

Alexandria Health and Rehabilitation in Alexandria, Indiana, seeks qualified Medication Aides to work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to provide skilled nursing care per the plan of care. You will prepare and safely administer prescribed oral medications and document administration; administer PRN oral drugs when authorized; and ensure injectables are always given by a nurse.

• Must complete a state-approved training program in medication administration.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination as required by state agencies.
• Must perform only duties taught in the approved training program.

Responsibilities

• Administer as allowed, oral PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
• Understand that injectable medications must always be given by a licensed nurse.
• Record vital signs before administering certain medications as required.

Annual Wage Scale: $35,360 - $50,960

About the Role:

Alexandria Health and Rehabilitation is seeking Qualified Medication Aides to-

• Prepare and administer safely and document regularly prescribed oral medications
• to residents.
• Administer as allowed, oral PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
• Understand that injectable medications must always be given by a licensed nurse.
• Demonstrate knowledge that the telephone or verbal orders may never be
• accepted by a QMA.
• Understand and demonstrate knowledge that appropriate vital signs will be taken and recorded as required before administering certain medications.

About you:

• Must be certified as Qualified Medication Aide in the State of Indiana.
• Must complete a State approved training program in medication administration.
• Must possess a current health certificate/examination as required by State agencies.
• Must perform only those duties that were taught in the approved training program.
