Job summary

Clark Wood Recruitment are working with a respected Chartered Accountant practice based in Bath, seeking a Qualified Accountant to join the busy team. You will manage accounts, tax and business services across a varied client base.

ACA or ACCA qualification and 2-3 years PQE preferred; strong UK accounting and VAT experience essential. Benefits include CPD support and a pension. Hybrid opportunities may apply for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting, business services and tax for a varied client portfolio.
• Plan and deliver accounts assignments and prepare statutory accounts.
• Assist with corporation tax and VAT matters; manage forecasts and valuation work.
• Lead on projects and liaise directly with clients to meet requirements.
• Support and develop junior staff and provide technical guidance.

Qualified Accountant | Bath | £45,000 - £52,000 DOE

Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a well-established and highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants who are looking to recruit a Qualified Accountant to join their busy team in Bath.

The Role

You will oversee the accounting, business services and tax needs of a varied portfolio of incorporated and unincorporated clients, with responsibilities including:

• Planning and delivering accounts assignments for a portfolio of clients


• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and VAT returns


• Assisting with corporation tax compliance and general VAT matters


• Producing financial forecasts and supporting valuation and other specialist assignments


• Reviewing accounting systems and assisting clients with cloud accounting conversions


• Identifying opportunities for additional services and supporting business development and cross-selling


• Taking the lead on project assignments and working directly with clients to understand and deliver their requirements


• Supporting and developing junior members of the team and providing guidance on technical accounting matters

About You

• ACA or ACCA qualified, ideally with 2-3 years' post-qualification experience within an accountancy practice or business services environment


• Strong experience in accounts preparation and UK financial reporting requirements


• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice with exposure to a broad range of accounting services


• Ability to produce and process complex management accounts and financial forecasts


• Strong IT skills; experience with Xero or other cloud accounting software would be advantageous


• Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities and add value for clients


• Excellent communication and client relationship skills


• Well organised, self-motivated and able to manage your own workload


• Strong attention to detail with a thorough and systematic approach
