Job summary

PPG is seeking a QMS Engineer to design, implement, and continuously improve quality management systems across its manufacturing network. You will lead data-driven improvements using Lean and Six Sigma, while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

You will investigate CAPA issues with 8D and FMEA tools, train teams, and partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to embed quality thinking throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
• Solid knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or equivalent QMS frameworks.
• Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred), and structured problem-solving tools.
• A natural curiosity to ask 'why' and seek root causes until resolved.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Comfortable working in a global, matrixed environment with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the QMS – Design, implement, and continuously improve quality management systems across PPG facilities.
• Lead with data – use analytics and KPIs to identify trends and drive improvements with Lean and Six Sigma.
• Drive compliance – maintain ISO/QMS standards and conduct internal audits and gap assessments.
• Lead CAPA investigations using 8D, FMEA, and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Develop and deliver quality training programs to foster ownership and accountability.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and EHS to embed quality thinking across the lifecycle.
• Champion the customer by managing complaints with urgency and ensuring effective resolutions.
• Contribute to enterprise-wide quality platforms and digital transformation initiatives.
