Job summary

The Waters of Rushville is hiring Qualified Medication Aides (QMAs) to administer medications under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You will be delegated responsibilities in accordance with federal/state regulations and company policies.

This role requires a current QMA license and a high school diploma. The position emphasizes safety, documentation, and timely reporting of residents’ responses to treatments in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must hold a current, unencumbered state QMA license.

Responsibilities

• Administer oral medications, including scheduled medications.
• Administer PRN medications after nurse authorization, with nurse assessment and documentation of effectiveness.
• Administer inhalers.
• Administer nebulizer treatments with prior nurse lung assessment and documentation.
• Apply topical and rectal ointments.
• Administer nasal sprays and drops.
• Administer eye ointments and drops.
• Administer ear ointments and drops.
• Perform non-invasive treatments.
• Observe residents for drug reactions and report concerns to the nurse immediately.
• Monitor residents' vital signs.
• Calculate medication dosages and stock the medication cart.
• Document medications given daily on the MAR chart.
• Report to the nurse on duty about residents' responses to medications or treatments.
• Report to the nurse on duty for instructions before PRN administration.
• Audit documentation to ensure accurate, complete, and timely recording of medications and treatments.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
