Job summary

Traditions at North Willow is seeking a Qualified Medication Aide to administer prescribed medications and monitor residents in a compassionate, compliant setting. You will be responsible for documentation, medication storage, and coordinating with nursing staff to ensure resident safety.

Responsibilities include ordering medications, documenting vital signs, and responding to alarms, while maintaining HIPAA privacy standards and a clean medication environment.

Qualifications

  • State-approved training in medication administration.
  • Annual medication evaluation with Registered Pharmacy Consultant.
  • Current QMA certificate for the state.
  • Overtime availability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer prescribed medications to residents and document administration.
  • Administer PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
  • Ensure proper drug reference is used when unsure about medications.
  • Maintain clean, properly stored drugs and a clean work area.
  • Respond to call lights and alarms promptly and courteously.
  • Order medications from pharmacy per physician orders.
  • Chart vital signs and resident conditions timely with co-signature by a licensed nurse.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Prepares and administers safely and documents prescribed oral, eye, nasal, and ear medications to residents. Prepares and administers topical medications to intact skin.
  • Administers as allowed, PRN drugs when authorized by a licensed nurse.
  • Uses the Physician’s Desk Reference or other appropriate drug reference if ever unsure or unclear as to drug being administered.
  • Checks physician’s orders against medication forms.
  • Maintains cleanliness and proper storage of all drugs and maintains a clean working environment.
  • Keeps medication cart locked while unattended.
  • Care for and position all patient tubing and bags as instructed.
  • Counts all drugs on Individual Control Drug Records with on-coming charge person at shift change.
  • Makes rounds and reports needs and conditions to the charge nurse as applicable.
  • Administers vital signs and documents properly.
  • Keeps medical records current by charting pertinent resident conditions timely and routine charting as scheduled, with co-signature by licensed nurse.
  • Answer call lights, bed/chair sensors, pull-pin alarms, and security care bracelet alarms promptly and courteously.
  • Order medications from pharmacy per physician order.
  • Complies with the facility’s privacy practices and procedures related to resident and employee records and all state/federal privacy laws as outlined by HIPAA.
QMA Qualifications and Skills
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Successful completion of a state approved training program in medication administration.
  • Must complete annual medication evaluation with Registered Pharmacy Consultant.
  • Current QMA Certificate for current state
