Job summary

Opal Foods is seeking a Quality Control Technician and Packer for our Roggen, CO processing plant. This full-time hybrid role involves backup QC tasks and packing eggs into cartons and pallets, ensuring products meet USDA and customer specs, and maintaining food safety and sanitation per policy.

Responsibilities include sanitation inspections, product condition records, labeling verification, HACCP/GMP parameter checks, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Follow all Opal Foods policies including Safety, Bio-security, FDA, SQF, HACCP and GMP.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to complete tasks efficiently; English reading/writing required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with good relationships with coworkers, customers and visitors.
  • Able to multitask, stay flexible and adapt to changing work demands.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Food manufacturing or quality control experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-op sanitation inspections.
  • Monitor and record nest run product condition.
  • Monitor and record finished product condition.
  • Verify labeling and packaging of finished product.
  • Record processing equipment operating parameters per HACCP and GMP.
  • Monitor sanitation conditions of facility during processing.
  • Maintain test instruments and supplies.
  • Rotate on different lines of egg packing equipment.
  • Assist with end-of-shift cleanup.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

QC TECHNICIAN/PACKER

Full Time ROGGEN PROCESSING, Roggen, CO, US

Salary Range: $21.00 To $21.50 Hourly

Opal Foods is accepting applications for the full-time hybrid position of Quality Control Technician and Packing for our Roggen, CO Processing Plant. This position will work as a backup QC Tech and packing the cartons or flats of eggs into boxes or onto pallets. The QC Tech is responsible for ensuring that all products meet or exceed USDA and customer specifications. Also monitors the food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with the company quality policy. Packers are responsible for ensuring the eggs and cartons are clean and correct products and labels are being used for each product.

QC and Packer Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-op sanitation inspection
  • Monitor and record condition of nest run product
  • Monitor and record condition of finished product
  • Verify labeling and packaging of finished product
  • Verify and record operating parameters of processing equipment in accordance with HACCP and GMP programs
  • Monitor and record sanitation conditions of facility during processing
  • Properly maintain all test instruments and supplies
  • Rotate with other team members on different lines of the egg packing equipment
  • Help clean up at the end of the shift
  • Any other tasks/job duties as assigned by the leadership team

Requirements: (knowledge, experience, skills, education)

  • Follow all Opal Foods Policies and Procedures including but not limited to Safety, Bio-security, FDA, SQF, HACCP and GMP
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to complete work tasks efficiently and be able to speak, read and write in English
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, customers and visitors - this position requires a \"team\" attitude
  • Ability to multitask, be flexible and be able to adapt to change and variety in the workplace
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food manufacturing and/or quality control experience preferred

Requirements: (physical)

  • Requires walking, standing, bending, stooping, turning, reaching, manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination to obtain readings and verify code dates
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods while hand candling eggs
  • Must be dependable and be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Must have a flexible schedule to help other departments should they need assistance on a particular day
