Job summary

Stella-Jones is seeking a QC Technician I to ensure product conformance from raw material intake through post-treatment evaluation. The role emphasizes inspection, documentation, and adherence to industry and customer specifications across treated and untreated materials.

The technician will perform field and lab tests, maintain logs, and support corrective actions while collaborating with treating supervisors to optimize treatment cycles. EHS duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting inspections and identifying nonconformances in manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of AWPA, ANSI O5.1, CSA O15/ CSA O80, and ASTM D25 standards.
• Ability to maintain inspection logs, assay forms, and material records.
• Collaborates with production supervisors to determine disposition of nonconforming material.
• Follows QC Manual and ISO procedures where applicable.
• Calibrates lab and inspection equipment as required.
• Supports root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepares certificates and inspection reports.

Responsibilities

• Post-treatment inspection and evaluation for compliance with standards and customer specs.
• Identify nonconformances and communicate with stakeholders; escalate as needed.
• Monitor treatment processes including moisture content and sterilization.
• Maintain accurate logs and records; ensure traceability of reworked material.
• Apply industry standards and internal policies per QC Manual or ISO procedures.
• Administer field and lab tests; evaluate results and suggest adjustments.
• Oversee quality assurance programs and QA reporting to leadership.
• Supervise process oversight of preservative concentrations and manufacturing steps.
• Perform inspection, certification, and reporting of treated materials.
• Ensure calibration of lab/inspection equipment at recommended intervals.
• Maintain documentation of inspections, analyses, specs, and correspondence.
• Collaborate with treating supervisors to optimize cycles and strengths.
• Initiate corrective actions and support root cause analysis; verify effectiveness.
• Compile daily/weekly/monthly compliance reports for plant leadership.
• Coordinate with third-party inspections.
• This position may be designated as the EHS contact for a facility and may include additional related duties.
