Job summary

Symrise AG in the United States (New Jersey) is seeking a QC sensory analyst to evaluate materials and products using organoleptic methods, manage QC testing workloads, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires an associate degree in a chemistry/biology related field and 2–3 years of fragrance QC/R&D sensory experience, plus strong communication and reporting skills. Local QA standards and SAP proficiency are needed.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of sensory evaluation experience in fragrance QC or R&D labs.
  • Experience in QC investigations.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Able to work with QC analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear reports and present results.
  • Proficient in SAP and QC systems.
  • Must pass sensory test.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate materials and finished products using official organoleptic methods.
  • Manage workloads for all off-shift QC testing.
  • Collaborate with Production, Technical Perfumery, and allied departments on sensory support, QC troubleshooting, or formula design.
  • Maintain, update, and control organoleptic standards per QC SOPs.
  • Harmonize local materials with global fragrance standards.
  • Maintain an orderly file of analysis results, samples, and paperwork.
  • Support Lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Manager.

About the Role
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Odor evaluates materials, intermediates, and finished products using official Symrise Organoleptic methods. Manages workloads for all off-shift QC testing.
  • Communicate and interact as required with Production, Technical Perfumery, and allied department personnel in matters requiring sensory analysis support, QC troubleshooting or formula design.
  • Maintain, update, and control organoleptic standards according to Quality Control SOPs.
  • Maintain local harmonization of global Fragrance Materials and Specialty Sensory
    Ingredients.
  • Maintain an orderly file of analysis results, samples, and allied paperwork.
  • Support all continuous improvement / Lean initiatives, as required.
  • Perform any related duties as required by Manager.
About You
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years experience performing sensory evaluation in a fragrance QC or R&D laboratory.
  • Experience performing QC investigations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Able to work with QC analytical equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements as applicable to the Quality Control area.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports, and effectively present results.
  • Proficient skills with SAP and collateral QC computer systems preferred.
  • Occupational Qualifier: Will be required to pass sensory test.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected gross salary for this position is USD $60000.00 - USD $80000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
