Job summary

Symrise in the United States, New Jersey (Teterboro) seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support Scientists and Flavorists in composing flavors, testing applications, and maintaining raw material inventory. The role involves tasting flavors with researchers and collaborating across sensory and applications teams to ensure quality.

Responsibilities include verifying viscosity, density and flashpoint specs, shipping samples to customers, and upholding a clean, safe laboratory environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, nutrition, or related field.
  • At least internship in lab setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Scientists and Flavorists in compounding flavors and testing applications.
  • Updates and replenishes raw material inventory.
  • Tasting raw materials and flavors with Scientists and Flavorists.
  • Aids and collaborates with sensory and applications departments.
  • Verifies viscosity, density and flashpoint specifications.
  • Sample shipping to customers.
  • General housekeeping and safe laboratory practices.

Your role
  • 1. Supports Scientists and Flavorists in compounding flavors
  • 2. Supports Scientists and Flavorists in testing flavors in applications
  • 3. Updates and replenishes raw material inventory
  • 4. Tasting raw materials and compounded flavors with Scientists and Flavorists
  • 5. Aids and collaborates in other departments such as sensory and applications
  • 6. Verifies specifications such as viscosity, density, and flashpoint of flavors
  • 7. Sample shipping to customers
  • 8. Perform general housekeeping and cleaning duties consistent with maintaining a safe and clean laboratory
About you
  • - Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, nutrition, or related field

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The expected annual salary range for this position is USD $50,000 - $60,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
