Job summary

AbCellera Biologics Inc. seeks a Senior Manager, QC Microbiology to lead GMP QC‑Micro operations at its Vancouver DS facility and support CMOs, CTLs, and collaborators.

You will own the contamination control program, set strategy for microbial methods, EM, utilities monitoring, and risk‑based testing, while mentoring the team and driving scientific excellence. You will collaborate across QA, Analytical Development, Manufacturing Operations, and CMC to align microbiology strategies with program

Qualifications

• 14+ years of hands-on QC microbiology experience in a regulated GMP setting.
• Ability to provide strategic and technical leadership across microbial methods and monitoring.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing scientists or analysts.
• Experience working with CMOs or external testing partners.
• Ability to translate regulatory needs into practical microbiology strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead QC Microbiology function, providing strategic direction and coaching a high‑performing team.
• Shape the QC Microbiology strategy to support development and manufacturing programs.
• Oversee internal QC Microbiology operations including EM, bioburden, and DET studies.
• Coordinate resources across laboratories, development, and external testing partners.
• Mentor team members and drive scientific decision‑making and aseptic practices.
• Lead investigations for microbiological deviations and excursions, ensuring timely resolution.
• Provide SME leadership for GMP cell banking and mycoplasma/viral testing.
