Job summary

Lonza in Vacaville, CA is seeking a Supervisor, Quality Control Microbiology to lead laboratory personnel and manage day-to-day testing operations within a cGMP manufacturing environment. You will oversee hiring, training, and performance management while supervising environmental monitoring and microbiology analyses.

You will ensure GMP compliance, guide OOS and CAPA investigations, drive continuous improvement, and represent the department during internal and external regulatory audits.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Life Science or related field.
• At least two years of experience in quality control or a related industry.
• Knowledge of cGMP requirements.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all employee lifecycle activities within QC Microbiology, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff through continuous feedback and goal setting.
• Assign, prioritize, and oversee daily QC activities to ensure timely completion of work.
• Monitor team performance, productivity, and progress against quality and operational objectives.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, quality, regulatory, and safety requirements; escalate issues as needed.
• Review, approve, and sign quality documentation in accordance with policies and authorization levels.
