Job summary

Catalent Kansas City facilities seek a Quality Control Lead Scientist I to lead complex projects, design experiments, and ensure compliance with site procedures and safety requirements. This onsite role requires strong technical leadership and collaboration across the team.

The candidate will perform analyses (HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, FTIR, UV-Vis) and author/verify documentation, train others, and drive efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related Life Science or Physical Science field with 11+ years of related work experience, or a Master’s degree with 9+ years, or a Doctorate with 5+ years.
• Ability to execute testing procedures for identification and characterization of raw materials per USP, EP, and JP using HPLC, GC, UV/Vis, FTIR, conductivity, and wet chemistry.
• Experience performing peer review of routine and complex laboratory documentation and reviewing technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness, and regulatory compliance.
• On an average 8-hour day, ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands to handle or feel, reach at or above shoulder height and below waist height, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear, smell, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision requirements include reading written documents, visual inspection of materials, and frequent use of a computer monitor screen.
• May require the use of a respirator.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute laboratory testing independently, creating work plans and schedules based on timelines.
• Perform analytical testing on raw materials using HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, FTIR, UV-Vis and wet chemistry.
• Write method development documents and carry out method verification and transfer activities.
• Author technical documents, including protocols, test methods, reports, and SOPs.
• Review technical documents for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
• Act as technical lead on assigned projects, interacting with customers and taking responsibility for outcomes.
• Support efficiency improvement projects and identify potential business opportunities.
• Train other laboratory associates on analytical techniques.
• Perform other laboratory-related duties as assigned.
