• Prevent cross-contamination by separating clean and used glassware.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE while handling cleaning chemicals.
• Report damaged glassware or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Laboratory Cleaner & Glassware Washer

Location: Hauppauge, NY
Pay Rate: $19.80 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Laboratory Cleaner & Glassware Washer to support daily cleaning and sanitation operations within a laboratory environment. This position is responsible for maintaining clean and safe laboratory floors, properly washing and handling laboratory glassware, and ensuring compliance with established safety and cleanliness standards. The ideal candidate will be organized, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a laboratory setting where attention to detail and adherence to procedures are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, sweep, mop, and disinfect laboratory floors in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Wash, rinse, dry, and properly store laboratory glassware, including beakers, flasks, and pipettes.
• Ensure glassware is free from residue and contamination and meets laboratory cleanliness standards.
• Operate manual or automated glassware washing equipment as needed.
• Properly separate clean and used glassware to prevent cross-contamination.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste materials according to laboratory safety and environmental procedures.
• Maintain adequate cleaning supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
• Display appropriate wet-floor caution signs during cleaning activities.
• Follow all laboratory safety procedures, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment to support laboratory operations and audit readiness.
• Promptly report damaged glassware, equipment malfunctions, and potential safety hazards.
• Remain focused on assigned tasks and comply with laboratory policies regarding personal mobile phone usage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in janitorial services, housekeeping, laboratory cleaning, or a similar environment is a plus.
• Basic understanding of cleaning, sanitation, and workplace safety practices.
• Ability to follow written instructions and established cleaning procedures.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned responsibilities within the scheduled shift.
• Familiarity with chemical safety practices is preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift and carry 60 pounds or more.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to wear required PPE while performing assigned duties.
• Comfortable working in an active laboratory environment with potential exposure to cleaning chemicals and glassware.
