Job summary

Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Inc is seeking a quality control professional to perform inspections, witness tests, and report generation for shipbuilding projects. You will coordinate with multiple departments, ensure compliance with procedures, and finalize issues with class society input.

Strong readiness for on-site work and adherence to safety is essential. Required are a high school diploma or GED, and significant experience in welding QA; AWS CWI is preferred, with knowledge of shipbuilding,

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ related discipline experience or 5 years’ professional welding experience.
  • AWS CWI Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of ABS and DNV rules a plus.
  • Knowledge of NDE Testing processes (ASNT Certification preferred).
  • Knowledge of testing/inspection equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must.
  • Ability to communicate with Production team, Owner, & Class Society representatives.
  • Basic computer skills required (Microsoft Excel/Word a plus).
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
  • Perform inspections (may include NDE) and witness tests as required by Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures and specifications.
  • Prepare reports and quality records in compliance with Hanwha Philly Shipyard procedures.
  • Coordinate areas of QC work with other departments as required, i.e. start-up, engineering, outfitting, etc.
  • Finalize with class on remedies to fix any issues.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and working functionality per Hanwha Philly Shipyard requirements.
  • Perform incoming inspections on material for work in conjunction with material control staff as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Education

High School Diploma or GED
2 years related discipline experience
5 years professional welding experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include confined spaces, working from heights, noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.
