Critical to the production process, the QC Inspector inspects and ensures the quality of welds and dimensional accuracy of work performed by production staff. The QC Inspector uses a high degree of proficiency, knowledge of codes and standards, and trade skills to verify that the final product is defect-free and meets contract requirements. The role requires the ability to perform each core responsibility satisfactorily.
High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 3 years of related experience. Completion of a vocational or training program may substitute for one year of experience. Certification such as CAWI, AWS-CWI, SCWI, or CWB is preferred, or relevant training/experience in metals fabrication, inspection, and testing.
Thorough knowledge of dimensional tolerances per AISC and AWS codes, inspection requirements for high-strength bolted connections, and ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and manuals. Equipment skills include tape measure, weld gauges, level, square, flashlight. Mathematical and reasoning skills are required. AWS-CWI certification is preferred; knowledge of AWS and AISC codes and weld testing procedures is essential.
