OVERVIEW

Under supervision, the Quality Control Inspector I performs testing on components/materials received and finished products, applying knowledge of GD&T principles.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure inspection compliance and record keeping per Orchid requirements.
• Maintain documentation during manufacturing and inspection per GMP standards.
• Review Device History Records including inspection documentation.
• Verify raw materials meet specifications.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections at various production stages.
• Follow customer specifications and internal/external requirements.
• Use handheld tools like micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators for measurement.
• Conduct physical inspections with gauging tools such as thread and plug gages.
• Perform visual and cosmetic inspections using proper lighting and monitor equipment.
• Report nonconforming situations to Quality Engineering and Management.
• Understand manufacturing concepts and processes.
• Quarantine non-conforming parts or materials.
• Support production with schedule adjustments as needed.
• Complete First Article Inspections and other internal inspections with minimal supervision.
• Train inspection personnel.
• Inspect customer-returned parts.
• Perform first piece inspections to support production.
• Promote health and safety for all stakeholders.
• Adhere to procedures and work instructions per QMS.
• Complete required training.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• No previous experience required; experience in scientific fields or quality inspection is a plus.
• Technical trade or QMS certifications are advantageous.

SKILLS

• Mathematical and data entry skills.
• Computer literacy and communication skills.
• Collaboration, handwriting, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with metrology tools, blueprint reading, GD&T, visual QA, and layout inspection.
• Time management and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to remain stationary, move around, handle items, communicate, and perform repetitive tasks as described.

WORK CONDITIONS

• Occasional noise exposure.
