Job summary

Nasdaq is seeking a QA Analyst to ensure the quality and reliability of our equities trading software. Report to the Senior Director, you will validate that products meet functional and regulatory standards in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with engineers to grow your QA expertise, contribute to test planning, and help drive continuous improvements across testing workflows and automation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/IS or related field.
  • 0-2 years of software quality assurance/testing experience; internships/projects count.
  • Proficiency with Python and pytest for automated tests.
  • Familiarity with AWS and Git; knowledge of CI/CD is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux/macOS and understanding of client-server concepts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional teams.

Job description

As a QA Analyst reporting to the Senior Director, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the software that powers Nasdaq's equities trading systems --- validating that products meet functional, and regulatory standards in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

You'll thrive in this position if you're detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to build expertise in quality assurance while working alongside experienced engineers who will support your growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute quality control tests and analyses to verify that software meets specified standards, development requirements, and client expectations.
  • Create and manage test data files to validate program logic, system flow, and edge-case scenarios.
  • Collaborate with development and project teams to plan, complete, and document applicable test phases, including defect identification, tracking, and resolution.
  • Administer and maintain quality standards for products and processes, including standard procedures and quality audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA workflows, leveraging automated testing frameworks and exposure to real-time financial systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 0--2 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing; internship or academic project experience counts.
  • Proficiency or solid understanding of Python, including experience in pytest for writing and executing automated tests.
  • Familiarity with operating systems such as macOS or Linux, and foundational concepts including client-server architecture, network protocols, and basic system administration.
  • Understanding of cloud environments (e.g., AWS), Version control tools like Git and experience using bug tracking and documentation tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to test automation frameworks (e.g., pytest) and test reporting tools (e.g., Allure).
  • Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker or Podman, used for spinning up and managing test environments.
  • Experience or familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or similar).
  • ISTQB Foundation Level certification or equivalent.

This position will be located in New York City and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
