Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Manufacturing Lab Technician to perform routine tests, monitor quality results, and document data for food production. You will audit process controls using RedZone, support formula adjustments, and communicate across departments.

Training includes operating lab equipment and maintaining documentation. Proficiency in chemistry, math, and Microsoft Office, plus ability to work 8–12 hour shifts and wear PPE, are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of experience in a manufacturing lab environment.
  • Chemistry training.
  • Strong math, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and be a self-starter.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, typically 8–12 hours.
  • Willingness to wear PPE.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in adverse temperatures.
  • Ability to work around vibrations, chemicals, fumes, and food allergens.
  • Ability to work in confined/dark spaces and at heights over 18 ft.
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine laboratory tests and other laboratory work under direct supervision.
  • Test, monitor, and document quality results and process data for products produced.
  • Audit, verify, and follow up process controls using RedZone, including weight checks, batch sheets, FSMA plant inspections, and receiving.
  • Support process variations related to formula adjustments to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with all operating departments.
  • Learn to operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Follow the Hold Program and maintain documentation.
  • Use AS400 and/or JDE computer systems for quality functions.
  • Gain knowledge of crystallizing and tempering oils and margarines, and production processes for mayonnaises, dressings, and sauces.
  • Maintain and complete files and documentation timely.
  • Assist plant operations personnel with quality and processing questions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing lab environment experience preferred
  • Chemistry training
  • Good math, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a self-starter
  • Excellent teamwork and good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact well with others at all levels
  • Ability to work various shifts, typically 8–12 hours per day
  • Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work outside and/or in adverse temperatures, as applicable
  • Ability to work around vibrations, operational chemicals, fumes, and food allergens, as applicable
  • Ability to work in confined and dark spaces and at heights exceeding 18 feet, as applicable
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more with assistance, as applicable
