Job summary

JBS USA in Elkhart, IN is seeking a Quality and Assurance Technician to monitor and verify product quality throughout manufacturing. You will inspect materials, perform tests, and document results to ensure compliance with company standards and customer specs.

The role collaborates with production teams to improve quality, support SQF audits, and uphold GMP and food safety requirements, including sanitation programs and pre-operational tasks.

Qualifications

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Work regularly in temperatures near or below freezing (coolers, loading dock freezer).
• Work in damp or cold conditions (20-30 Degrees).
• Lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs.
• Work with sharp knives or cutting tools.
• Willing and capable of overtime when necessary.
• Available to work Day and Nights; Saturdays/Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Perform quality checks, measurements, and testing using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Record inspection and test results accurately and maintain quality records.
• Identify, document, and report quality issues and defects; assist with root-cause investigations.
• Verify compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Calibrate and maintain inspection/testing equipment as required.
• Communicate quality concerns and recommendations to supervisors and production personnel.
• Assist with sanitation programs and pre-operational sanitation.
• Review sanitation program and conduct pre-operational tasks to meet food safety and quality regulations.
• Analyze documents for product chemistry (salts, moisture, fats, proteins) and identify trends.
• Capable of swabs, validation tests, and backing up technicians when needed.
• Support SQF audits and ensure GMP adherence.

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Technician is responsible for monitoring and verifying product quality throughout the manufacturing process. The position ensures that products meet company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The QA Technician conducts inspections, performs tests, documents result, and works with production teams to maintain and improve quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality standards
• Perform quality checks, measurements, and testing using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Record inspection and test results accurately and maintain quality records.
• Identify, document, and report quality issues and defects. Assisting with investigating root causes of quality problems.
• Verify compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
• Calibrate and maintain inspections and testing equipment as required.
• Communicate quality concerns and recommendations to supervisors and production personnel.
• Assist the plant personnel when food safety and sanitation issues arise.
• Reviewing the sanitation program as needed, including pre-operational sanitation.
• Conduct pre-operational tasks to be compliant with food safety and quality regulations.
• Analyze documents for product chemistry specifically salts, moisture, fats, and proteins look for trends and notify the supervisor of any findings.
• Capable of doing swabs, validation tests, and back up for technicians when needed.
• Support SQF audits
• Ensure all staff within the facility follow GMP requirements.

REACHING — Reaching for product on the conveyor belt, reaching for boxes and lifting pork bellies from a big container

STANDING — Constant standing and walk throughs to different areas

Working Conditions:

• Subjected to hot/cold and wet environments
• Slippery floors
• Smoky areas
