Job summary

J&J Snack Foods seeks a Quality Assurance Technician I to ensure food safety, quality, and customer specifications across raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods at our Rock Island facility.

Under the FSQA & EHS Supervisor, you will inspect samples, conduct GMP/HACCP/SQF compliance, perform audits, calibrate testing equipment (including metal detectors), document results, and support continuous improvement initiatives with the production team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in food science, biology, or related field is a plus.
• Previous quality control experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations such as HACCP, GMP, and SQF.

Responsibilities

• Complies with GMP policies and documentation in accordance with company standards.
• Assists with maintaining Food Safety and Quality programs.
• Conducts GMP facility audits with corrective action follow-up; enforces GMPs at the plant.
• Reviews and verifies production documents.
• Places out of specification product or raw material on hold.
• Advises the appropriate party of issues in a timely manner.
• Conducts routine inspections and testing of raw materials, products, and finished goods.
• Monitors and documents production processes for compliance with procedures and regulations (HACCP, GMP, SQF).
• Assists in calibration and maintenance of testing equipment (including metal detection devices).
• Collects data from quality tests, prepares reports, and provides feedback to production.
• Collaborates with the production team to address food safety and quality issues in real time.
• Assists in investigation of customer complaints and implements corrective actions.
• Maintains clean and organized workspaces and supports internal audits and continuous improvement.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of theFSQA & EHS Supervisor, theQualityAssuranceTechnicianIwill consistently follow processes and procedurestoeffectively measure, evaluate, and test samples of the Company product to ensure it meets food safety, quality, and customer specifications.This role involves inspecting raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and customer specifications. The QATechnicianIplaysa critical role inmaintainingproduct consistency and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Complies withenforcement of all GMP policies, documentation, and record keepingin accordance withcompany standards.

• AssistswithmaintainingFood Safety and Quality programs.

• Supportsinternal audits andparticipatein continuous improvement initiatives.

• Conducts pre-operational inspections at the start of production runs

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues promptly.

US Hourly Pay Range

$17—$17 USD
