Position Title: Quality Assurance Tech

Supervision Responsibilities: No

Reports To: Quality and Product Development Specialist

Job Status: Exempt

Work Hours per Week: Minimum of 40

Overtime: Depending on the Season and Business needs

Shift: 2:00pm -10:30pm

I. Basic Function

The Quality Assurance Technician position is a working position responsible for the testing of finished products for all Food Safety and Quality attributes. The QA Tech will need to ensure the testing is within specification for all lines in the facility. They will also test products for fill weights, drained weights, metal detection, defects, color, and flavor. Ensure all lot coding is correct on the package and case. This is to be performed by employing the safest, most efficient and professional methods possible.

III. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Including but Not Limited to Demonstrated Proficiency in the Following:
  • B. Inspect, test or measure product for conformance to specification. Testing of Physical and Chemical properties of the product.
  • C. Lab equipment experience including calibration and verification
  • D. Perform internal plant audits to identify any non-conformance
  • E. Consult with manager to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems
  • F. Collaborate with other supervisors/managers to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality of product.
IV. Methods of Accountability
  • A. Through various oral and written reports to the Quality and Product Development Specialist.
  • B. Through the accurate reporting of paperwork, timely completion of assigned work, and quality of work performed.
V. Standards of Performance
  • A. Overall accuracy of reports/paperwork.
  • B. Quality of work.
  • C. Level of efficiency attained in quality assurance functions.
  • D. Training and development effectiveness.
VI. Mental and Physical Requirements
  • A. Ability to perform assigned duties in a highly disruptive environment.
  • B. Ability to efficiently work with minimum or no direct supervision.
  • C. Must be able to work overtime when required to do so.
  • D. Ability to perform assigned tasks under time pressure.
  • E. Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently at the same time.
  • F. Strong written and oral communication skills. Attention to detail and legible penmanship.
  • G. Must be able to produce work within exacting standards and tolerances.
VII. Education, Training and Experience
  • A. Proficient at Word and Excel. Candidates’ skill set would include math skills (algebra, geometry, statistics).
VIII. Working Environment and Conditions
  • B. Eye protection required for task specific functions.
  • C. Clothing is suitable to prevent entanglement in equipment.
  • D. A sometime hot/humid environment, greater than 80°.
