Job summary

Warabeya North America Inc. seeks a QA Supervisor to lead FSQA programs at the VA plant, ensuring safety and quality in line with established standards. You will interact with USDA/FSIS inspectors and coordinate QA activities across departments.

The role requires onsite work in Stafford, VA, with 1st and 2nd shifts and a strong focus on GMP, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory compliance. Supervisory responsibilities include training QA techs, maintaining records, and ensuring recalls and traceability

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of food safety role in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Experience with HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation, SQF and GMP.
  • English and Spanish proficiency in both oral and written.

SalaryRange: 1st shift $70,000, 2nd shift $75,000

Position Summary:

QA supervisor leads and coordinates food safety and quality assurance (FSQA) program designed to ensure the safety and quality of products consistent with established standards for VA Plant and interacts with USDA/FSIS inspectors to maintain regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Suggest and plan an action for prevention and measures related to risks of quality management
  • Ensure all product specifications are met daily
  • Check the quality of product and inspection of plant sanitation
  • Maintain and supervise Pre-requisite Program calendar activities, verification, and validation
  • Conduct food safety, sanitation, pest control, GMP's, facility inspections, and internal audits
  • Participate in internal and external food safety, quality, and regulatory audits
  • Ensure product labels are verified at every stage correctly
  • Coordinate FSQA required training plan with supervisors and address any lapses in training
  • Ensure that all new specifications are distributed to all pertinent personnel
  • Review products to ensure they meet internal and supplier specifications
  • Maintain all supplier documentation; letters of guarantee, audits, COA's, and supplier shelf-life letters
  • Follow and understand product recall/traceability procedures
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with all internal departments
  • Plan and perform education related to quality assurance (GMP) and collaborate with HR on employee training and procedures
  • Follow and enforce all GMP and PPE procedures daily
  • Follow and enforce all food safety and q uality rules and regulations requirements
  • Organize and maintain filing of QA documents
  • Hire and train new QA techs as needed
  • Maintain QA techs work schedules (daily, weekly, and monthly), task assignments, and vacation coverage
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Research and suggest paperless solutions for daily QA tasks and propose some options
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Required:
  • 3+ years of food safety role in the food manufacturing industry
  • Experience and knowledge of food safety programs such as HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation, SQF, and GMP
  • English and Spanish proficiency in both oral and written
  • Knowledge of government regulations and role of FDA, USDA, Food Code & Crisis Management
  • MS office and ERP proficiency
  • Problem identification and corrective action implementation skills
  • Actively listens and communicates clearly and effectively in both verbal and written forms, adapting to the audience as needed
  • Ability to perform accurate and efficient numerical calculations
  • Time management and task prioritization skills
  • Consistently produces accurate, thorough, and well-organized work
  • Must have a hands-on work ethic
  • Strong leadership skills to lead team and motivate employees
  • Training and instructional delivery skills
  • Ability to work onsite (remote work is not an option)
  • Flexible to work scheduled hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis at the time the employment begins and must not require sponsorship for employment visa status. This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • Certification in HACCP, Seafood HACCP, Food Defense, PCQI, Sanitation, SQF and GMP
Work Environment and Workplace:
  • Work is primarily performed in a n indoor environment, including office, laboratory, kitchen, manufacturing, and warehouse settings
  • The role may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, regular exposure to conditions such as hot and cold temperatures, humidity, and confined spaces depending on job duties
  • The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate
  • The work environments may include exposure to foodingredientsand cleaningagents
Physical Requirement:

To successfully perform the essential functions of this role, the employee must be able to:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or move for extended periods
  • Safely handle raw materials, ingredients, finished products, and packaging materials in a production setting
  • Lift, transport, maneuver materials, or equipment weighing up to approximately 25 pounds
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently to access materials, equipment, and work areas
  • Maintain visual acuity to read labels, monitors, safety indicators, and production instructions
  • Communicate effectively using speech, written language, hearing, and visual observation in person, by phone, and via virtual platforms
