Job summary

Idaho Pacific Corporation is seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead the QA team at the Ririe facility. The role oversees scheduling, training and performance of Lab Technicians, and coordinates laboratory supplies, inspections and audits to ensure food safety standards are met.

The position also handles data input for lab records, QA grade sheets, and metal detector logs, while supporting USDA product oversight and corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience supervising lab technicians and coordinating QA activities.
  • Knowledge of laboratory methods including chemical and microbiological tests.
  • Familiarity with safety data sheets and food safety audits.
  • Ability to train staff and manage daily QA operations.
  • Experience with recalls, investigations and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

Job description

Summary: The Quality Assurance Supervisor will work directly for the Q. A. Manager (Ririe facility) and indirectly for the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager. This position will oversee the scheduling, training and performance of Lab Technicians at all levels. The position is responsible for tracking and requesting laboratory supplies and materials; participate in inspections, mock recalls, and food safety related audits. The Q. A. Supervisor is responsible for the data input and review of Lab-specific data, Q.A. Grade Sheets, Metal Detector logs, and oversight of USDA product. Position will also assist the Corporate Q. A. Manager and other necessary personnel in areas pertaining to quality assurance and food safety. Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations and mock product recalls and recommends corrective actions.

The hours for the position are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing utilizing the English language.
  • Knowledge and competency in all laboratory and testing methods including (but not limited to) analytical, chemical, and microbiological methods used at Idaho Pacific Corporation.
  • Training in sensory/taste panel analysis preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets.
  • Use logical, deductive or inductive reasoning; identify complex problems and develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills (oral and written), active listening and learning skills, and reading comprehension.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of a Windows-based computer system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software. Familiarity with spreadsheet-based software (Navision) helpful.
  • Responsible for managing the daily Ririe, ID Quality Assurance department, including tasks, personnel, staffing, training.
  • Ability to supervise, monitor, and mentor laboratory personnel. Ability to direct work flow and delegate responsibilities as necessary. Able to fill-in or cover for absent Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Prior knowledge of, or work experience in the potato processing industry, preferred.

Education:

Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Supervisor. A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or a closely related field is necessary.
