Job summary

Southland Industries in Texas is seeking a Quality Control Inspector to ensure that materials, installations, and procedures meet project and regulatory standards. You will review shop drawings, perform field inspections, and document nonconformities, coordinating with superintendents to enforce quality during construction.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least 5 years in quality control within construction, with strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety procedures, and MS

Responsibilities

• Monitor quality standards for installation of materials and products for HVAC systems to ensure project and code compliance.
• Conduct job walks and site inspections to verify procedures and testing and to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Document and communicate inspection results; identify and resolve nonconformities.
• Maintain procedural documents, continuity logs, and training materials as needed.
• Collaborate with superintendents to manage licenses, permits, and renewal dates.
• Review equipment specifications and project QA/QC requirements; inform management of potential issues.
• Define roles and expectations for QA/QC at project start.

Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring product quality specifications and processes are in compliance with regulatory, company and customer standards and requirements.

Position Details

• Monitors quality standards for installation of materials and products for Mechanical HVAC systems to ensure they are integrated in projects and the fabrication processes. Reviews shop fabrications for drawing conformance, verifies installation of products and materials and confirms that procedures are being followed and are code compliant.
• Performs job walks and inspections at construction sites and/or fabrication facilities to ensure compliance with government regulations, OSHA and company safety requirements and contractual specifications. Consults with crews for proper testing procedures, verifies testing and inspection reports.
• Documents and communicates inspection results. Identifies and recommends solutions for noncompliant situations. Follows through to ensure compliance and conformance.
• Maintains various procedural documents, including continuity logs and code books. Reviews procedures for compliance. Clarify procedural issues and conducts training as needed.
• Partners with superintendents to maintain resource licenses, including expiration and renewal date.
• Reviews project equipment specifications and documents. Secures specialty permits. Informs management of potential problems.
• Reviews project requirements for Quality Assurance/Quality Control and help project teams identify roles, responsibilities and expectations before the project begins.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 5 years of progressive quality control experience or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, processes, and methods)
• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations as well as safety policies and procedures
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems
• Proficient in MS Office
• Organizational and planning skills
