Job summary

Maryland Transit Administration, a major unit of the Maryland Department of Transportation, seeks an experienced Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance/Quality Control to implement the Quality Management System across multi‑million dollar capital projects.

The role provides leadership to Engineering Managers and consultants, ensures compliance with QA/QC and commissioning guidelines, and supports project controls through design, procurement, construction, testing, and turnover phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Eight years of professional engineering experience, including one year in supervisory or consultant management; 4 of the 8 years in QA/QC.
• Possession of a Professional Engineer license may be substituted for education/experience as noted.

Responsibilities

• Assist the QA/QC Manager in implementing and enforcing QA/QC policies, procedures, and standards across all phases of project development.
• Oversee commissioning processes and ensure proper turnover to operating modes; supervise commissioning activities.
• Lead and guide consultant commissioning and QA/QC staff; coordinate with internal divisions, contractors, and external agencies.
• Monitor capital project budgets and participate in procurement activities and contract evaluations.
