Job summary

Stratas Foods, LLC in Decatur, IL, is seeking a Laboratory Technician Lead for split shift/3rd to provide day-to-day leadership for Quality Assurance on the assigned shift and to guide the QA team in testing, documentation, inspections, and quality compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required; Bachelor's degree preferred in food science, chemistry, biology or related field.
• 3–5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a lab/QA setting.
• Experience with lab and/or quality assurance in food packaging is required.
• PCQI certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to QA technicians on assigned shift.
• Perform all duties of Laboratory Technician III.
• Troubleshoot and repair laboratory equipment; notify QA management when service is needed; maintain calibration logs.
• Navigate M3 to approve and release product or place items on hold.
• Assist with product disposition and escalation to QA management.
• Conduct shift meetings; communicate status of samples and products with operations.
• Provide daily shift reports to QA Supervisors/Managers.
• Participate in monthly audits and inspections; maintain presence on the production floor.
• Guide technicians on shift to maximize efficiency and performance; train new technicians.
• Conduct and coordinate investigations into quality or food safety issues; perform special testing/projects.
